Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and career-oriented Junior Safety Advisor to join our team. This entry-level position is designed for an individual looking to build a long-term career in occupational health and safety. The successful candidate will work closely with senior safety personnel, assist with safety program implementation, support field operations, and receive ongoing mentorship and training for advancement within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing company health and safety programs and policies.
- Conduct field inspections and identify potential workplace hazards.
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits.
- Assist with incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and reports.
- Support orientation and onboarding of new employees.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions.
- Monitor compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Assist with emergency response planning and drills.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Travel to project sites as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education
One or more of the following:
- Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- NCSO – National construction safety officer
- Related post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a similar field.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications
Preferred certifications may include:
- Standard First Aid & CPR.
- WHMIS.
- Fall Protection.
- EWP
- CSTS (Construction Safety Training System).
- Valid driver's license.
Experience
- 0–2 years of health and safety experience.
- Construction, industrial, potash, manufacturing, mining, or oil and gas experience considered an asset.
- Co-op, internship, or summer safety experience is beneficial but not required.
