Industrial Electrical Planner / Coordinator

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and driven Industrial Electrical Planner / Coordinator to support our industrial construction pilot project. In this role, you will be embedded with the project team on-site, responsible for planning and coordinating all electrical construction activities from early-phase through to pre-commissioning. You will play a critical role in keeping work fronts moving, ensuring crews have what they need, and that electrical scopes are sequenced and delivered on schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed electrical field installation work packages aligned with project milestones and schedules
  • Coordinate with the Electrical Superintendent, Project Controls, and other trades to sequence and prioritize electrical construction activities
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and specifications
  • Identify and track material deliveries, ensuring timely availability of cable, conduit, instrumentation, switchgear, and other electrical components
  • Manage RFIs, drawing revisions, and field changes in coordination with engineering and the site team
  • Develop look-ahead schedules (4-week)and communicate resource and material requirements in advance
  • Attend daily and weekly coordination meetings; provide planning updates and flag schedule risks
  • Support quantity tracking, progress reporting, and earned value inputs for electrical scopes
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning planning activities with the electrical and instrumentation teams
  • Ensure work packages include all required safety documentation, isolations, and permits

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician Certificate (Red Seal preferred) or equivalent technical background
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical construction experience (oil and gas, upgraders, pipelines, or heavy industrial)
  • 2+ years in a planning, coordination, or lead hand capacity on construction projects
  • Experience with construction scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings and specifications
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, electrical installation methods, and crew productivity
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across multi-trade, fast-paced project environments
  • Familiarity with field-level hazard assessments, permit-to-work systems, and construction safety standards
