DCM Integrated Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Piping & Mechanical Superintendent to oversee field execution across all phases of industrial construction projects, from planning through completion. The Superintendent is responsible for leading site crews, managing daily operations, ensuring safe and efficient execution, and maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships. This role ensures that work is completed in accordance with project specifications, schedules, budgets, and DCM’s safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Project Execution & Compliance
- Lead all site activities to ensure compliance with design requirements, project specifications, regulatory standards, and safety codes.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are completed to client specifications, within established budgets and schedules.
- Manage and direct site documentation, reporting, and inspection requirements.
- Implement schedules and milestones to monitor progress against project timelines.
- Assess quality control (QC) in accordance with approved drawings and specifications throughout all phases of construction.
Leadership & Workforce Management
- Supervise all workers on site; provide feedback, enforce company policies, and administer disciplinary measures when required.
- Conduct and lead project meetings with subcontractors, trades, and labour teams to monitor and report on construction progress.
- Identify and resolve conflicts among project teams and associated work activities; develop contingency plans to mitigate risk.
- Assist field crews when operational support is required.
- Promote a strong culture of safety and lead by example in accordance with DCM’s safety policies.
Planning, Coordination & Cost Control
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to plan manpower requirements and ensure proper equipment and subcontractor availability.
- Work with the Project Manager to review up to date cost reports and identify corrective actions for any tasks trending over budget.‑to‑date cost reports and identify corrective actions for any tasks trending over budget.
- Identify, recommend, and support cost-effective construction and project delivery solutions.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.
- Manage general housekeeping and maintain a clean and organized work site.
Stakeholder Relations
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams, with a focus on trust, communication, and professionalism.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to Cleary communicate before a group with confidence,
- Must be able to write reports using good grammar, spelling and punctuation,
- Standard First Aid & CPR, Energy Safety Canada (ESN) Confined Space Entry & Fall Protection, CSTS-2020, WHMIS, H2S Alive,
- Must be able to work long hours in varying temperatures,
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including, excel, word, outlook,
- Ability to lead and assess trade performance on the job,
- Ability to visualize the entire project and anticipate constructability issues and embed solutions in the construction plans and schedules,
- Can visualize and create the project schedule critical path,
- Ability to schedule, monitor and forecast resources for optimum efficiency,
- Ability to manage other and many facets of the construction project and assume responsibility,
- Understand when to seek out professional advice
Education and Experience:
- Valid Journeyman Ticket
- 10+years craft and/or supervisory experience in piping construction, installation and maintenance
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a superintendent
- Leadership for safety excellence is preferred
- Valid Confined Space Certificate - Energy Safety Canada
- Valid Fall Protection Certificate - Energy Safety Canada
- Valid H2S Alive
- CSTS2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO) — Energy Safety Canada‑2020
- Intermediate and advanced rigging training considered on asset
- Additional site-specific training may be required‑specific training may be required
