Labourer Skilled

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manually load and unload construction materials, move materials to different work areas, cleaning and preparing a job site, such as sorting, stacking, and inventory  of scaffold components and materials
  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
  • Remove rubble and other debris/snow from construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
  • Snow removal and sand distribution in the work area during winter months

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • There are no minimum educational requirements to be a Skilled Labourer but a minimum of 10 years experience is required
  • Experience on or around mobile equipment
  • Skid steer and forklift certificates are considered an asset
  • H2S Alive
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space (Entry & Monitor)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • One of the following Valid Safety Tickets: CSO, OSSA BSO, or CSTS-09
  • Site specific training may be given to the Skilled Laborer to qualify them for certain tasks
  • Ability to complete physically demanding work in cold or hot weather
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self and others
  • Must be willing and able to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
  • Must be very safety oriented and follow all safety procedures closely while on the job
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Demonstrate practical problem-solving ability
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Rotations: 7&7 (Shift Cycle may be subject to change)
  • Day shift
  • Travel is required
  • Charter flights from Edmonton or Calgary to site
  • Camp accommodations during scheduled shift
  • Ability to lift and carry objects independently or as a team
  • Ability to meet and maintain site access requirements
  • Very physical in nature
  • Must be able to walk for extended distances
  • Bend and lift 44lbs efficiently
  • Working outdoors
