APPRENTICE MILLWRIGHT

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform maintenance work involving climbing, rigging, and working at heights in accordance with all company safety procedures
- Install, align, maintain, dismantle and overhaul machinery, such as pumps, heavy mechanical equipment, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
- Install power drives in correct position, and align power shafts, and pulleys
- Install and/or change the layout of machines and mechanical equipment in shop environment
- Use hoists, forklift trucks, rollers, or trolleys to move machinery
- Repair any problems associated with new equipment
- Make or repair machine guards and install machinery. Check guards to assure that they have enclosed equipment properly. Notify supervisor of potential hazards and corrective actions are taken or documented
- Perform repairs on all equipment in the facility, including hydraulic, pneumatic and electrically driven equipment within Federal and Provincial standards
- Perform other duties designated by the shop foreman as required
- Perform preventative maintenance once the machines and equipment are put into operation
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Rotating Shop with experience rebuilding pumps is an asset
- High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self and others
- Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to upload work order information to CMMS and Microsoft office applications
- Demonstrate practical problem-solving ability
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to lift and carry objects independently or as a team
- Ability to meet and maintain site access requirements
REQUIRED CERITIFICATIONS
- Proof of active Apprenticeship (Trade credential must be recognized in Alberta)
- H2S Alive
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space (Entry & Monitor)
- WHMIS 2015
- One of the following Valid Safety Tickets: CSO, OSSA BSO, or CSTS-09
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Shift Cycle: 7&7 (May be subject to change)
- Day shift (May be subject to change)
- Work is primarily indoors in a temperature controlled shop
- Travel is required
- Charter flights from Edmonton or Calgary to site
- Camp accommodations
