Electrician - Apprentice

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of temporary electrical equipment installations
  • Install, examine, replace or repair temp power panels, feeder cables, temporary lighting, and other electrical components
  • Install feeder cables for large generator power distribution systems
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance               
  • Testing and termination of electrical cables for power distribution
  • Maintain, repair, install and test temp power panels, disconnects, welders, and PWHT consoles
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial temporary lighting circuits
  • Perform QC testing on temporary electrical components           
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • May have to drive light equipment and light vehicles
  • Inventory and material count
  • Tools and equipment inspection
  • Gather equipment and material
  • Develop and review hazard assessments
  • May have to inspect materials and equipment


  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self and others
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • General knowledge of troubleshooting methods and how to repair temporary power components
  • Demonstrate practical problem-solving ability. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form


  • Valid Electrical Apprenticeship (Credential must be recognized in Alberta)
  • H2S Alive  
  • Fall Protection 
  • AWP
  • Common Safety Orientation (Energy Safety Canada)
  • First Aid with CPR 
  • WHMIS 2015


  • Shift Cycle: 10&4 (May be subject to change)
