Ideal Candidate: A high-volume trades recruiter who thrives on pace and pressure. You've filled skilled trades and technical roles at scale, you know how to build a pipeline before you need it, and you get things done without a lot of hand-holding. Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus, but proven recruitment results matter more than credentials.
This role is built for someone who wants to own full-cycle recruitment for skilled trades and technical roles in a fast-moving industrial construction environment. Construction experience is not required, but comfort working at volume and under deadline pressure is.
Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle, high-volume recruitment for skilled trades, supervisors, and technical roles across multiple industrial construction projects simultaneously — from intake through offer acceptance
- Source and attract candidates through direct outreach, networking, job fairs, and career events
- Build and maintain active talent pipelines for high-demand trades including welders, pipefitters, millwrights, ironworkers, electricians, and more
- Partner closely with project managers, superintendents, and site leadership to forecast workforce needs and stay ahead of hiring demand
- Build and maintain relationships with trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and industry associations
- Coordinate all pre-access and onboarding requirements, including certifications, drug and alcohol testing, and site-specific safety orientations
- Screen and interview candidates efficiently, with a strong focus on both technical and cultural fit
- Maintain accurate candidate records and requisition statuses in the ATS and provide timely updates to stakeholders
- Track and report on recruitment metrics — time-to-fill, offer acceptance rates, source effectiveness — and use them to keep pipelines moving
- Provide day-to-day support to the HR Manager as needed
Qualifications
- 1–4 years of recruitment experience, ideally high-volume; industrial construction, trades, oil & gas, or heavy civil experience is a strong asset
- Track record of managing a high req load and filling roles quickly without sacrificing quality
- Working knowledge of union environments
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply Collective Agreements
- Experience supporting both union and non-union workforces
- Familiarity with employment contracts and offer letter administration
- Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS)
- Ability to build rapport across all levels of the organization
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to juggle multiple open requisitions in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's licence; occasional site visits required
- Diploma or degree in Business Administration – Human Resources is an asset; CPHR in progress welcomed
