Junior / Intermediate Estimator

We are seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Junior / Intermediate Estimator to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the successful candidate will support the preparation of accurate and competitive project cost estimates while developing their estimating expertise under the guidance of senior team members. This role is ideal for an estimator early in their career who is eager to grow within the industrial construction sector. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are essential.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Estimate Support
    • Assist senior estimators in reviewing project scope of work to understand requirements.
    • Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications under guidance.
    • Compile and organize pricing information from vendors and subcontractors.
  2. Cost Estimation
    • Support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates using industry-standard tools and software.
    • Assist with gathering and analyzing historical data and benchmarking.
  3. Documentation & Coordination
    • Help maintain organized estimate files, records, and supporting documentation.
    • Assist in the coordination and preparation of tender documents.
  4. Risk & Methodology Support
    • Help identify potential risks and uncertainties in project execution.
    • Learn and apply construction methodologies in collaboration with the estimating team.
  5. Team Collaboration
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and insights.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Related post-secondary education or construction background (Diploma / Degree / Field Experience).
  • 0–5 years of estimating or relevant industrial construction experience.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop estimating skills.
  • Experience with boilers, fired heaters, and related fixed/rotating equipment is considered an asset.
  • Industrial job site experience is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Accubid and Bluebeam is considered an asset.
  • Understanding and knowledge of scheduling is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and a positive team contributor.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position: 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week.
  • Based in Sherwood Park, AB.
  • Travel to various job sites across Western Canada as required.
